The Department of Medicine at Highland Hospital, Alameda Health System and OakCare Medical Group (OMG) are seeking a Chief for the Division of Primary Care. The Highland Adult Medicine Clinic (AMC) is the medical home for 8500 patients who are followed by residents and faculty within a multidisciplinary team-based structure. The Division of Primary Care includes 14 physician clinician educators.
Valid California medical license and DEA license
Board certification in Internal Medicine
Minimum of 5 years in primary care practice
Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in an academic setting
Strong interest in serving the diverse, low-income community of Alameda County and working in a safety net environment
Commitment to strengthening the role of primary care clinician educators and leaders
Formal training in leadership and operational management
At least 2 years of experience in mentorship
Clinical experience in a safety net setting
Primary care practice and supervision of residents in the AMC
Strategic planning for division growth and development in collaboration with the Department Chair and other Department and AHS partners
Maintain a culture of excellence in patient care, teaching and quality improvement
Planning and leadership of monthly division meetings
Support of clinic Medical Director with regular planning meetings
Mentorship of division members in professional growth, project development and yearly goal-setting; development of scorecards for all division members
Collaboration with OMG in meeting the productivity and other requirements of the AHS contract
Oversee recruitment, retention, and scheduling of faculty
Assist and support clinical research within the division
Attend and participate in the Department of Medicine Division Chief meetings
Work closely with the Department Program Director in
and mentorship of the Primary Care Associate Program Director and primary care core faculty
Collaboration in the development of Primary Care curricula and residency training grants
Oversight of division efforts in extramural presentations, publications and research
Reports directly to the Chair of Medicine at Highland Hospital
Compensation and Time Allocation:
Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications
Position includes 0.5 FTE for administrative responsibilities
