JOB SUMMARY: The Controller is responsible for managing and directing the day-to-day accounting, financial and payroll functions of the corporation. Provides budgetary and contract management oversight; monitors annual operating and grant contract budgets; prepares financial reports for internal management and external agencies. Establishes and maintains internal control policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting activities which include establishing and maintaining the organization’s accounting principles, practices, and procedures
Develops and produces financials, budgets, and other analytical and financial reports
Participates in the preparation of budget proposals for current and future grants/contracts
Monitors funding sources and prepare financial reports for funding agencies, governmental agencies and Ole Health Board of Directors
Plans, coordinates and improves financial operations
Manages cash and investment activities
Provides oversight of the centralized purchasing function
Responsible for direction and coordination of annual audit preparation
Prepares annual information returns and other reports required by regulatory bodies
Delegates duties to accounting staff; provides instruction and training on assigned tasks as needed
Assists and oversees monthly close of Health Center, Ole Foundation and NMTC. Assigns appropriate closing functions to accounting staff
Investigates and advises the CFO, COO, CEO and accounting staff on financial, accounting trends, regulations and information from external stakeholders
Oversees compliance with federal requirements associated with the receipt of federal funds, including the following: Office of Management and budget (OMB) Circular A-133, Audits of States, Local Governments and Non-Profit Organizations; Circular 1-122, cost Principles for Nonprofit Organizations; Education, Hospitals and other Nonprofit Institutions
Maintains and enhances accounting function internal control environment including continuous improvement and documentation of policies and procedures
Develops accounting processes that streamline monthly functions
Educates accounting and organizational staff regarding regulatory changes
Attends staff and OLE Health Executive Board meetings as required
Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in related field–equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
Five years related relevant work experience.
Experience in analysis, interpretation using complex data sets.
Excellent EXCEL skills required for data manipulation and schedule creation.
Non-profit accounting experience preferred; healthcare industry experience preferred.
Experience in creating executive level reports and presentations.
Experience with business intelligence tools preferred.
Skills in developing trusting and effective working relationships and communicating clearly with patients, staff and the board.
Skills in resolving complex problems, working independently and multi-tasking.
